Seasonal photos are always in demand on stock photo websites. And when it comes to selling your photos as stock, the simpler the better. Take a look at these 4th of July themed photos that Breakfast Stock Club Premium member, Theresa St.John, is selling in stock sites now:

Theresa St.John All of them are clean, simple, and iconic. There’s nothing in the photo to distract the viewer from the one main theme. If you’re headed out to celebrate Independence Day this weekend, bring your camera along and look for these iconic things to photograph:
- Americans of all creeds and colors, interacting with each other and having fun…
- Summertime foods, like hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, watermelon, etc…
- Summer activities, like camping, hiking, playing Frisbee on the beach…
- Fireworks and sparklers…
- Flags and details…
You get the idea. Of course, if you’re not in the U.S., you can apply similar themes to any vacations or adventures you take. The trick with stock is to think “iconic,” and look for photos that make the viewer think of something specific right away. With a little foresight, you could turn the photos you take on your adventures into a nice side-income by selling them as stock. The process of getting started is fairly simple: Step 1: Sign up for free as a member at an agency (Shutterstock, iStock, Dreamstime, Fotolia, and Bigstock seem to work best for our readers). Step 2: Apply to be a contributor by sending in three to 10 of your photos that best represent the kinds of photos you’d like to have them sell for you. Step 3: Wait for their response. Stock agencies can be picky, and sometimes it’s confusing why they choose one photo over another. Keep trying and you’ll soon figure it out. Share on Facebook
