For the next few weeks I’m going to answer the top three most commonly asked questions about stock photography.
First up is…
Question #1: “Can I submit the same photos to multiple stock sites?”
Answer: YES!
You sure can. In fact, this is one of the best parts about selling stock photos – you aren’t locked in to any particular sales venue.
I recommend starting out with around three agencies to get your feet wet. You can add more as you start to get used to the process.
You’ll see that it becomes a routine to submit the same batch of photos to all your agencies at the same time. This way you won’t get confused about what you’ve sent where, and you’ll quickly get your photos out there for sale in several places.
TIP: Add keywords to your images in Lightroom, first. If you do this, the keywords will stay with the images as you upload them to different agencies, and you won’t have to keep adding them every time you upload them somewhere new.
One important note – when you sign up with your agencies, be sure NOT to check any boxes saying you’ll be exclusive with them. Staying non-exclusive, especially in the beginning, allows you to submit the same photos to any site you want, and play the field with agencies.
