Yesterday, I showed you my photography income “pie” according to genre. (If you missed it, you’ll find it here.) This year, I’m on track to hit my photography income goals — and that’s great — but here’s the truth… I didn’t decide to become a professional photographer for the money. If money were my end goal, I would have gone to business school. I do this because I love stories. I love seeing true emotions on people’s faces. I love connection and being invited into someone else’s world. I love reliving the best day of someone’s life when I look through the photos… and then letting them relive it through my photos, too. 
I do this because it’s fun! The money is important, because it boosts your confidence… and eventually allows you to spend more and more time doing what it is that you absolutely love. What’s amazing is that the more fun you have, the more you’re likely to make. Fun fans the flames of passion. It brings creativity and enthusiasm, which all show up in your photos, whether you shoot for clients, like I do, or you take travel photos on your vacations. Share on Facebook
