Can you tell which of these two photos was taken in a fancy studio, and which one was taken on my back deck?

The answer?

Neither of these was taken in a studio. Bonnie took them both in my backyard, using materials that cost about $5.

Here’s another one she took that just got accepted into the online stock photo agency, Fotolia.com. It took her five minutes to set up the shot and another 20 to perfect it and get the composition she wanted:

Can you do this?

Of course you can. It’s amazing how much you can do with so little — in this case, a piece of white poster board and some tape.

Two days later, it’s up for sale in an online stock photo agency.

My point is simply that there are easy ways to do things and there are hard ways. I can’t teach you everything you need to know about photography in three days (I’m not sure I know everything there is to know anyway, and some of our pros who have been in this for 20+ years will say the same).
