Photography was there for me when I didn’t know what to do with my life.
I was a social worker. I worked with severely emotionally-disturbed children, and my weeks were long and emotionally stressful. On one particular day, a young lady I’d been working with for months went into a rage punched me in the face, slammed my head into the door frame and simultaneously stabbed me in the head with a ballpoint pen.
I couldn’t sleep.
I could barely eat.
I felt like I was slowly dying.
I knew I needed a change… I just didn’t know what it would be.
Enter photography.
Photography was something I had always enjoyed. Everyone who knew me knew I was “into” photography, but back then, the photography world was one of limited income. Today, all of that has changed. You can earn money from your photos … as people all across the world are doing… whether it’s a part-time or full-time income.
My camera has taken me all over the world from China to Africa. I’ve been asked to photograph weddings in Paris and document the work on the ground with Heifer International in Guatemala. I’ve seen my photos on everything from the Opera magazine and the Apple website to T.V.’s Dexter, Jimmy Kimmel, and American Music Awards to name a few.
When I look back through photo albums and old hard drives, I hardly believe this has been my life!
It started with a ballpoint pen to the head… well, to be honest, it took me a few years past the pen incident to actually get up the courage to change courses…
But change courses I did and boy am I glad about that. Now I’m proud to count these images among my best sellers…
