What would you do with an extra $1,000?
Buy a new lens? Upgrade your camera bag? Take a trip? Hire a professional organizer or interior decorator? Pre-order the new iPhone 8? Buy a new drone? Go to Thailand?
I’m announcing a $1,000 challenge this week… and, over the next few days, I’m going to tell you exactly how to win it!
This challenge is for everyone with a professional camera or smart phone, and it’s designed to get you out in the world taking pictures. Only it’s NOT a photo contest. I want your finger to slip and hit that video button instead. It’s a VIDEO challenge.
Here’s how it works…
Below are some insider tips from Tom Reissmann, the author of our Travel Videos for Profit program, on how to create videos you can sell.
Read through Tom’s advice, then, together, we’re going to craft fun, snappy videos of any place we love.
Tom sells his videos for an upwards of $70,000 a year (and that’s doing it part-time!), but for the sake of this challenge we’re starting small – with videos selling our hometown in one minute or less.
You might think creating videos is hard… or you’re not interested because it’s something new to learn and you don’t have time. But I’m here to say it’s easy, it’s fun, and — in addition to my $1,000 carrot this month — it’s a lucrative thing to do in your spare time and on your travels, too.
Here’s the objective — create a 1-minute video made up of short clips of your hometown (or a place you love) and enter it for a chance to win a $1,000 GRAND PRIZE!!
RULE #1: You must be a beginner! If you’ve sold more than one video in the past you can enter but you won’t qualify to win.
RULE #2: Your video must be 60 seconds or less. Any entries over 61 seconds will be disqualified.
RULE #3: You must meet the Sept. 18 deadline to win.
Official rules and guidelines are here.

This is a fun challenge – a chance to look at your town or local beauty spot with new eyes. Shoot by day, by night, or at dusk – it’s up to you. Whatever you think makes your town, city, or that national park look best. The only limit is your own creativity.
I’m looking forward to seeing your finished video.
