Great Escape Radio Host, Jody Maberry and Director, Lori Allen discuss Lori’s latest challenge to herself – calling 100 people.
Inspired by Shenee Howard’s 100 People Project, Lori has embarked on a challenge to call 100 people. She’s reaching out to our experts, success stories, beginners, people who’ve inspired her on Facebook and people she’s traveled with.
“After hearing Shenee Howard speak at Pioneer Nation, I thought this would be a great project for me,” says Lori. “I want to find out what is working for the people I reach out to, what isn’t working, what their successes are and what they struggle with.”
Lori’s about halfway through her project and loving it.
“It’s been a real eye-opening experience for me and I’m noticing trends.”
From experts to beginners, people seem to be struggling with finding focus.
“It’s a common thread with the people I’ve spoken with but not necessarily in a negative way,” explains Lori. “People have thrown a lot of stuff at the wall to see what sticks and now they’re trying to find what they need to focus on most.”
The feelings about needing to focus are varied…
***Some are excited about narrowing down their focus
***Some are frustrated and overwhelmed
***Some are learning that what they thought would work for them won’t and something they never thought about seems to be working
Another trend is the focus on multiple streams of income. Veterans realize the benefit that comes from having multiple things to focus on while beginners tend to feel overwhelmed.
Lori’s conversations with everyone have given her fresh insight into what travel writers and photographers really need. As a result, she has been able to tailor our programs and events to those specific trends, concerns and challenges for our members.
And more ideas are coming in…
