Today you can find the hottest-selling and “trending” products in just a few seconds on your Smartphone, tablet, iPad or PC. This is the leveraging power of the Internet.
Trending is a word used in social media. When something is “trending upward,” it’s gaining popularity and momentum.
A thousand years ago, it would take a merchant months to acquire this information. And even then, it wouldn’t be complete.
Now, let’s use some neat tricks for identifying current hot-selling products online.
The first tool or trick is Google Trends. When you type the word “products” in the search box, you’ll come to a page about “trending” products.
At the bottom of the page, you’ll see product categories that are “rising” or trending upward. These are products that are being searched on Google in real time. Google is a tremendous gauge with regards to trending products, because billions of searches are conducted weekly.
You can quickly identify rising trends in hundreds of categories.
Granted, it might take some time to identify the best products for your business or interests. But you’ll quickly see the power of Google Trends.
Another tool or trick is Wal-Mart.com. I’m not kidding.
Wal-Mart has become a major player when it comes to selling products online. There are few companies that understand buying trends like Wal-Mart. You can utilize its expertise and knowledge for free.
Wal-Mart has added a new feature to its website called Trending.
It’s a powerful tool to help you identify hot-selling, in-demand products.
Not all of the trending products will be applicable or of interest to you. But you can quickly identify some hot-selling products and start generating your own ideas based on factual, real-time information.
Today, a few of the trending products in the electronics category include: iPad cases, flash drives, microSD cards, and noise-cancellation headphones.
In the gift category, hot-selling products include: an airbrush tool for kids, a dash mount for GPS devices, and scrapbooking supplies.
The last tool or trick I want to show you is Terapeak Trends. Terapeak offers products and applications for eBay market research. But it also offers free products and tools like Terapeak Trends. It’s a great tool for identifying the hottest-selling products on eBay quickly.
In the “tabletop games” category today, the top-selling games are Chess, Monopoly, Scrabble, and Uno.
