If you’ve ever thought about selling your photos, but have no idea where to start, try online stock agencies. Some of my favorites are Shutterstock.com, Adobestock.com, and iStock.com (now owned by Getty Images).
These sites are excellent for beginners – and anyone with a bunch of photos sitting on their computer – because:
• You don’t need a lick of experience to start…
• You don’t have to do any printing, pitching, or “selling”…
• It’s passive income that collects while you’re off doing other things…
• Starting is easy – you can be up-and-selling in an afternoon…
• And now, you can even do it with your phone!
Typically, simple photos sell best. And the great thing is, you get to be the “creative director,” choosing any photo subject you like, and incorporating it into your daily life. There’s a market for just about anything. For example, here are some of my photos that have sold this month:
An up-close photo of an agave plant in Arizona…
A quick shot of my green tea smoothie in my kitchen (this prop mysteriously disappeared shortly after the shoot)…
The day I brought my camera to happy hour…
Some carved souvenirs on my travels…
And a phone photo of the misty Oregon forest I took while hiking…
