“Buy a house that doesn’t need repairs!” our experienced friend told us.
Ha! We laughed. We want a fixer-upper!
But maybe my friend was right, because here we are a month later, painting, sanding, building and fixing… and each project seems to be bigger than the last.
Our evening wear these days looks like this:
But at least I’ve managed to take some stock photos of the process…
For this photo, above, I set up a tripod, set the timer on my camera, grabbed some paint supplies, and posed as my own model.
To focus on myself, I put the ladder where I planned to stand, focused on that, then switched my lens over to “manual focus” to lock it. Then I marked the floor where the ladder was, so I’d know where to stand.
I also made sure my camera was in the middle of the back wall, with the lens square to the wall, so I could create a very straight and symmetrical room.
This is now up in my stock agencies, and I’ve got a LOT more “home improvement” shots to take over the next year.
I can’t wait to see how the look of this place evolves.
Whatever projects and plans you’ve got going on, you can probably combine them with stock photography. Just take a few photos here and there in your daily life, then submit them for sale!
I’ll share a few more simple, at-home ideas to get your creative juices flowing tomorrow.
